It smoothed everything out, but didn't totally flatten everything, however, I have more spare tire than I would like to admit. There is a little boning at the top to prevent it from curling (I'm assuming). This could use a little more reinforcement as I've had this and worn it for about 10 hours total so far and one of the 'bones' has found it's way out already:( I also wish the shorts were a tad bit longer.
